Choose an example household
The Examples page presents invented households with different financial situations. Each card summarizes the household, current finances, and retirement timing, and opens its example projection.
Read the example’s forecast notice: opening balances are measured as of January and the first year covers all twelve months. This makes annual inputs easier to compare with the first-year result.
- 02
Explore the complete forecast
Choose charts, pin a year, and inspect income, spending, property, and accounts. The example card’s annual expenses cover living and child costs. The full forecast also calculates housing costs, loans, health coverage, taxes, and investment income.
Use the example to understand how the pieces connect before interpreting a headline total as the whole household budget.
- 03
Try an example What-If
An example starts as a plan to read. What-If opens a temporary version you can edit and explore. Revert restores the original example.
Example edits are not saved back to the published sample. Follow the available save or account flow if you want a personal plan; check its save status instead of assuming a temporary preview has been retained.
- 04
Replay a walkthrough
Open Walkthroughs from your account to see the available page tours. Choose one to navigate to that page and follow its highlighted controls. Page-specific tours explain the screen they are attached to.
For tours that need a plan, the library opens the most recently saved plan and shows which plan it is using. Setup tours help you revisit the initial flow.

Continue at your own pace
Tour completion is remembered for the account, rather than separately for every plan. You can replay a tour when you need a reminder.
Use page guides for a reference you can scan and the concept library for worked examples of the financial calculations behind a control.

Reading the result
Read the results
Example households are invented; their outcomes are illustrations, not targets for your own finances.
A full-year example can differ from a personal plan started partway through the year even when the annual amounts match.
Confirm the plan named by a walkthrough before making any edits beyond the tour itself.

Model limits
A tour explains controls; it does not assess whether your assumptions are appropriate or your entries complete.
Published examples and temporary What-If previews are not a substitute for a confirmed saved personal plan.
This guide documents the page as built. The figures on it follow the plan’s own assumptions; none of it is individualized tax, legal, Medicare, or investment advice.
